Nose surgery for women

Nose deformation is divided into aesthetic, traumatic and congenital deformations. If the nose function is not limited, it is an aesthetic operation and it is not covered by health insurance. It is up to the patient what will be done – the nose can be shortened or lengthened and lumps can be reduced to improve the appearance. If the nose was injured in an accident and the functions of the nose are also limited, health insurance may cover it. Congenital deformations of the nose (cleft lip, cleft palate, or cleft nose) are also assignments for cosmetic surgeons.

What does the surgery involve?

Rhinoplasty is a cosmetic procedure, usually performed to enhance the appearance of the nose. During rhinoplasty, the nasal cartilages and bones are modified, or tissue is added. The aim is to improve the visual appeal of the nose.

The operation can be performed with a „closed technique“- all scars remain invisible – or an “open technique”, where there will be a little cut along the bridge of the nose.

After accidents or the loss of the nose because of the removal of a tumour, an aesthetic reconstruction is possible using micro-surgical methods. Nose surgery usually lasts about 1 to 1,5 hours.

What happens after surgery?

After the operation the patient will receive a nose cast for 10 days and a nose tamponade for 2-3 days. The removal of this tamponade done by us is absolutely painless as we moisten the tamponades. All in all it will take approximately 3-4 weeks to recover fully. Regular checks over the following year are important. There may be more operations necessary for traumatic or congenital deformations.
