Facelift for men
When you get older, wrinkles appear because elasticity of the skin and muscle-tone is lost. Sometimes, deep furrows may emerge and the result is a tired, even sad look. If this has happened to you, a facelift may be right for you. A facelift can make the face appear younger again by tightening the loose skin. It is important, that the result does not alter the facial characteristics too much.
There are 2 main procedures: the upper and the lower facelift
What does the upper facelift involve?
The upper facelift is a procedure to tighten the area around the forehead and the temples. The surgeon performs a coronar-cut or the so-called hairline-cut. I prefer the hairline-cut, because the danger of hair loss can be eliminated. The surgical operation will last 30-40 minutes and can be performed in an outpatient setting. If the forehead is not very high, I use the endoscopic- forehead lift. This means that only three little incisions will be performed within the hairline and the skin is tightened with an endoscope via video.
What happens after surgery?
You will have to wear a pressure bandage for 2 days, the sutures will be removed after 8 days.
What does the lower facelift involve?
The lower facelift is a procedure for the cheeks and the neck area. There are various methods to perform a facelift. Best results are achieved by tightening the skin with the SMAS – method (Superficial– Musculo– Aponeurotic System). The scars, especially in front of the ear, are virtually invisible after a short period of time. However, you have to bare in mind, that scar formation varies from person to person. The operation will last 2,5 – 3 hours and the patient will have local anaesthesia.
What happens after surgery?
The patient can go home the same day – however, I advise a one-day observation in the clinic, so the patient can be monitored closely
From experience I can assure you, that the scars are very unobtrusive and after a few weeks can only be seen on close inspection.
